Custom Buttons for Election Day Volunteers & Campaigns
Custom pin-back buttons for political campaigns, election day volunteers, GOTV (get-out-the-vote) drives, and advocacy groups. Made in Canada, no minimum order.
Why Custom Buttons Are Election Day Essential
Canadian elections — federal, provincial, municipal — run on visible support. Custom buttons have been a campaign staple for over 100 years for good reason: they're cheap to produce at volume, instantly visible, and reusable across canvassers, rally attendees, and supporters.
From federal NDP/Liberal/Conservative campaigns to municipal council races to school board elections, Button Bros produces campaign buttons for Canadian candidates and grassroots advocacy across all 10 provinces. See our Custom Buttons Canada hub for nationwide details.
Election Button Categories
Candidate Name & Number Buttons
Classic political button — candidate name + party + ballot number. Worn by supporters and volunteers throughout the campaign. Order 5,000–50,000 depending on campaign size and territory.
Volunteer Identification Buttons
Election day volunteers need easily identifiable branded buttons. "VOLUNTEER," "SCRUTINEER," "POLL CAPTAIN" labels with the campaign branding. Distributed at the campaign office or volunteer orientation.
Issue / Cause Buttons
Single-issue advocacy ("VOTE NDP - HEALTHCARE," "MEDICARE NOW," "CLIMATE ACTION") for canvassers and rally attendees. Used by advocacy groups (Greenpeace, Doctors Without Borders Canada) as well as parties.
Rally Attendee Buttons
Distributed at campaign rallies and town halls. Free to attendees, encourages them to wear the button afterward — walking advertising.
GOTV (Get Out The Vote) Buttons
Buttons for the final-week GOTV push. "I VOTED" stickers/buttons given at polling stations (where allowed). "MAKE SURE TO VOTE" canvasser buttons.
Polling Day Buttons
Specific buttons for poll workers and scrutineers (election observers). Must be neutral if for official election workers (not campaign-branded). Campaign-branded for partisan scrutineers.
Riding / District-Specific Buttons
Customize buttons per electoral district — "VOTE FOR JANE SMITH — TORONTO CENTRE" with district name and candidate.
Election Compliance Considerations
Canadian election advertising is regulated by Elections Canada (federal) and provincial chief electoral officers. Key compliance notes:
- "Authorized by the Official Agent for [Candidate Name]" — must appear on campaign buttons over a certain spend threshold
- Polling day rules — partisan items typically prohibited inside polling stations
- Spending limits — buttons count toward campaign spending caps (verify with your campaign manager)
Button Bros isn't a legal advisor — work with your campaign manager and Elections Canada compliance officer for jurisdiction-specific requirements. We add the official agent text to buttons on request.
Election Button Pricing
For volume campaign orders:
- 1.25" round at 5,000 units: $0.35/ea = $1,750 for 5,000 buttons
- 2.25" round at 10,000 units: $0.35/ea = $3,500 for 10,000 buttons
- 2.25" round at 50,000 units: $0.23/ea = $11,500 for 50,000 buttons
For a federal campaign covering one Canadian riding (~80,000 voters), allocate $3,000–$8,000 for buttons. For provincial campaigns, $1,000–$3,000 per riding is typical.
Campaign Button Rush Production
Elections operate on hard deadlines. Button Bros offers:

- For final-week GOTV push: order 2 weeks before election day to allow buffer

Advocacy & Issue Button Use
Beyond political parties, buttons are core to Canadian advocacy:
- Labour unions (CUPE, USW, OPSEU) — solidarity buttons, strike support, organizing campaigns
- Civil rights groups — Black Lives Matter, Indigenous rights, LGBTQ+ advocacy
- Environmental causes — climate strike rallies, pipeline opposition, parks protection
- Healthcare advocacy — pharmacare campaigns, dental care, universal childcare
See our Union Buttons page for labour-specific button orders.
